Anyone who reads my site may remember my piece on Jersey Portuguese FC back in April. For those who are unsure, the article in question can be found here.
Sadly, the club has hit the news again this week, for all the wrong reasons. Its players walked off the pitch following an offside call they disagreed with during a Premier League game with Jersey Wanderers this weekend. This was rumoured to be the last in a long line of such incidents throughout the game.
For those unfamiliar with Jersey football, a neutral referee takes charge of all fixtures but each club is expected to provide a linesman / lineswoman (I refuse to call them “Assistant Referees”). One can’t help but think this may soon change if this sets a new precedent.
